Flying in the face of fear with Kevin Jones

Often referred to as the King of the Pick, Kevin Jones is always bringing this summer soirée everything he’s got. This writer, actor, and self-proclaimed “goofball” has gifted us with scripts full of heart and humor-and performances that last a lifetime. This year is no different.

We’re celebrating this king… and that’s the only kind of king we love!

Cherry Picking turns 25 this year - which means it’s due for a quarter-life crisis. What advice would you give to your past or future 25 year old self, or to Cherry Picking right now?

You are not your future or your past - you'll get there, and then you'll have one. Just be present.

It’s our Silver Anniversary this year – if you had your own heavy metal band what would you call it?

MagaDeath - I fear this is mega-obvious, but felt drawn to it anyway.

Tell us about the last time you tried something brand new?

His name was David. After that, the same was just never the same.

What is your CP core memory?

So many to choose from - but we were in a bar this particular year. Erika Kreutz performed a piece what I wrote called "The Wallet" (?) - a monologue from the pov of a wallet and I remember thinking how awesome she was, and how much better she and Clare had made my work, and how amazing it was to be in a group of theatre artists just celebrating creativity and building a community. 

If Cherry Picking were a cocktail (or mocktail), what would be in it?

Cherry Fountain - vodka, cherry brandy, simple syrup, & soda. Highball, on the rocks, cherry garnish, big straw. No really, someone make this for me.

Actually, seeing everyone at Cherry Picking this year is what's keeping me going!
