Flying in the face of fear with Megan Hart
Megan Hart has been a Cherry Picking writer since 2013. She’s brought us shorts and one-acts that make us swoon. We are so glad she stopped by the CP blog to reminisce and re-ground for summer.
Check her out!
Cherry Picking turns 25 this year - which means it’s due for a quarter-life crisis. What advice would you give to your past or future 25 year old self, or to Cherry Picking right now?
Do the thing! Stop hemming and hawing about whether it will work or not! Then do the next thing! Also, stand up straight.
It’s our Silver Anniversary this year – if you had your own heavy metal band what would you call it?
I Will Race You. (Best band name ever, coined by my then 5 year old niece, in a split second response to the question)
Tell us about the last time you tried something brand new?
I picked asparagus recently and it is just wild. Did you know they grow straight up out of the dusty ground in these tall green stalks that snap deliciously? They’re actually lilies!
For previous pickers: What is your CP core memory?
Oh boy so many of them. Probably my favorite though was getting to create my play Ride, for some CP All-Stars who knocked it out of the park, all while riding imaginary stationary bikes.
If Cherry Picking were a cocktail (or mocktail), what would be in it?
Prosecco, of course. With a splash of cassis to make it a Kir Royale. A little something extra for year 25.
Describe your summer 2025 using only emojis.
❤️🥩🥳🌳🏊♀️📚📓⛺️🤷♀️
What’s keeping you going right now?
Summer produce, trees, lifting weights, my kids.
Don’t miss a re-mount of Megan’s play, The Water Is Wide, at this year’s CP on July 15 at the Wild Project.
