The In-Between with John P. Loonam

John P. Loonam was at the very first Pick and he's been a part of CP ever since. As a writer and committee member, he's brought audiences some of our most memorable moments on the page. John is back for another CP where he will hopefully be seated between ideal seatmates.

Here’s what’s John shared with us:

What was your first CP year? How were you involved (audience, actor, writer, producer, front of house, tech)?

I think my first CP year was the first year – 1999?  2000?  I was in the audience.  I remember the giant windows of an old sweatshop in Chinatown.  And Ericka’s performance.

How are you living - if at all - in a liminal space currently?

Between night and day, love and lust, sweet and savory, a rock and a hard place.  Between books, between jobs, between meals and among friends.

Describe a time when you had absolutely no idea what would happen next?

You mean besides now?  I think politically we have reached a stage where anything can happen.

What’s worse: the moment after a sharp inhale or before a long sigh?

So often the moment after a sharp inhale is the moment before a long sigh.

You’re stuck between two people in the middle seat on an airplane, buckled up for a long flight. Who are your ideal OR nightmare seatmates?

My ideal seatmate would always be Maria.  On the other side, I would someone with shorter legs than me.  Less competition.  Once on Amtrack I was stuck between an office light-fixture salesman and a man of retrograde political opinions.  LED vs GOP?  It was a tough choice.  And they were both tall.

Ice cream sandwich or deli sandwich? (Be specific)

Can’t we have both?  Follow your deli sandwich with an ice cream sandwich!  I’ll take a bacon egg and cheese but then I’ll ditch the ice cream sandwich for a chocolate-vanilla soft serve swirl from Carvel. (It’s a good product!)

Don't miss John's newest play, M-M-M-My Generation on Monday, July 13 featuring come CP alum's alongside our newest CP actors on at the Wild Project.
